Minister Moore

The year 2008 is certain to remain engraved in the memories of all Canadians and the many visitors from across the globe who came to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Québec City. This historic event touched all Canadians, for it was with the founding of this city in 1608 that the history of our country began. It was in Québec City—renowned for its beauty and rich heritage—that Canada as a country was born.
Throughout the year, our artists and creators—as well as everyone who, in one way or another, helped promote the city on the international stage—made Québec City sparkle. Even though 2008 is coming to an end, the celebration is far from over. I invite you to come and join the festivities, because to celebrate Québec City is to celebrate Canada!
On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I would like to congratulate and offer my warmest thanks to everyone who helped make this 400th anniversary an unforgettable artistic and historic event.
The Honourable James Moore, P.C., M.P.
Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages
