Domagaya – the Meeting of Aboriginal Cultures and Digital Arts

To celebrate National Aboriginal Day, that took place on June 21, there was the inauguration of the “Domagaya – the Meeting of Aboriginal Cultures and Digital Arts” interactive space.  This event took place at the Bassin Louise, across from Espace 400e. The “Domagaya” programming offered 11 theme days during which visitors were able to enjoy contemporary, dynamic and eclectic Aboriginal programming. “Domagaya – the Meeting of Aboriginal Cultures and Digital Arts” was held inside the SATosphère, a self-supporting inflatable dome 18 m across and 9 m high, with room for 400 people.

  • 360o all-round projection within the SATosphère, a multimedia, multisensory Aboriginal experience. The projection was continuous. The shows were presented daily from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Admission was free.
  • Keynote speakers were invited to discuss the realities faced by Aboriginal people. The Presentations were presented daily, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  Admission was free.
  • Some of the 11 days of “Domagaya – the Meeting of Aboriginal Cultures and Digital Arts” programming were closing with a MixSessions evening. These events consisted of interactive exchanges among Aboriginal artists, musicians, DJs (disc jockeys) and VJs (video jockeys). The participants in these events were invited to perform around a chosen Aboriginal theme. The results was staged live in the SATosphère. The presented series were original, innovative and inviting. The Presentations were presented daily at 7:00 pm.  Admission was free.
